Position Overview:
The Peer Workforce Mental Health Counselor provides trauma-informed mental health support to Peer Support Specialist trainees (adults 18+ with lived behavioral health experience for themselves or immediate family) who are preparing for state certification and employment in behavioral health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct mental health assessments for approximately 75 trainees annually and develop individualized support plans based on identified needs.
- Design and deliver weekly peer support groups that address mental health needs, strengthen emotional well-being, build coping skills, and foster meaningful peer connection.
- Provide individual therapeutic interventions and resource navigation, supporting trainees in accessing behavioral health care, community resources, and additional supportive services aligned with their mental health needs.
- Design and deliver well-being workshops to promote resilience, mental health, and success in training and future peer support roles.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Aura, Smartsheet, Monday.com, and other required reporting and tracking systems, including preparing periodic reports as required.
- Collaborate with Peer Workforce staff to ensure trainees receive integrated support across mental health, training, and employment preparation processes.
- Participate in required trainings, organizational events, and other duties as deemed necessary to fulfill agency and/or program requirements or assigned, including occasional weekend activities.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a Master’s Degree in Social work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology or Counseling from an accredited graduate school.
- Must be fully registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
- Must have a minimum of 1-2 years working in social services with Parents and/or Youth.
- Must have a minimum of 1-2 years of individual or group counseling.
- Must have well-developed computer skills.
- Patient learner, high intelligence, passionate, open to feedback, and team player
- Willingness to be flexible to fulfill the requirements of the position
- Must be culturally responsive, responsible, and able to seek assistance from supervisor when crises arise.
- Must have a smartphone.

- Attend 80 hours of Comprehensive Training on Zoom and In Person

Pay: $40.00 – $45.00 per hour
