Position Overview:
The Accountant/DMH (Medi-Cal) Biller is responsible for submitting Medi-Cal billing for mental health services, processing accounts payable, and performing assigned accounting operations in accordance with GAAP. This role ensures compliance with all reporting requirements while supporting the financial health of Parents Anonymous®.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure Medi-Cal billing records are accurate and complete according to compliance standards.
- Submit approved Medi-Cal claims via file transfer to LA County on a daily basis.
- Review rejected information and re-submit claims accordingly.
- Reconcile and respond to DMH billing errors and resubmit to the county.
- Generate and submit weekly reports to Finance as needed.
- Review and prepare payables for approval and payment with accuracy and timeliness.
- Process approved invoices and monthly bills through the Bank Bill Pay system.
- Prepare vendor checks as assigned.
- Code all American Express expenses and ensure accurate documentation.
- Perform all fund accounting based on GAAP.
- Assist in preparing assigned documents for annual audits.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and other professional standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Advocate for the vision, mission, and goals of Parents Anonymous® Inc.
- Participate and actively engage in all required trainings and weekly supervision.
- Maintain accurate daily Outlook calendar and share with Controller.
- Document work hours and breaks using Smartsheet, office clock, and ADP.
- Respond promptly and thoroughly to staff emails and communications.
- Secure assigned computer, laptop, monitor, and all Parents Anonymous® equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience.
- Knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting.
- Experience with Medi-Cal billing and reconciliation.
- Proficiency with Financial NXT nonprofit accounting software preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
