Position Overview:

Parents Anonymous® Inc. is seeking a motivated and culturally responsive Peer Workforce Developer (Bilingual Preferred) to support the employment success of certified peer support specialists. This role focuses on building relationships with employer partners, coordinating work-based learning and job placements, and providing ongoing support to peers and employers after placement. The Peer Workforce Developer plays a key role in creating meaningful employment pathways while supporting peers on their empowerment journey.

To be considered, you must meet the definition of a Peer:

A Peer is an individual who self-identifies as having lived experience with mental illness, substance use disorder, or both, either personally or as a parent or family member.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Recruit and engage individuals with lived experience to join the Peer Workforce and training pathway
  • Conduct outreach and presentations to promote peer training and employment opportunities
  • Support peers as they move through training and work toward peer support certification, including work-based learning activities such as job shadowing, coaching, and training
  • Collaborate with peer recruitment and training staff to prepare certified peers for paid or volunteer roles
  • Build and maintain relationships with employer partners to create meaningful placement opportunities
  • Coordinate interviews, placements, and follow-up with employer partners
  • Facilitate job readiness activities, including resume support, mock interviews, and workplace preparation
  • Provide ongoing post-placement support to peers and employer partners to encourage retention and success
  • Participate in required trainings and organizational activities
  • Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and person-centered, trauma-informed practices
  • Input all required data into the data collection system accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Achieve weekly and monthly productivity goals for all services.
  • Complete 80 hours of Medi-Cal Certified Peer Support Specialist Training and pass the State Certification Exam within 60 days of employment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must meet the definition of a Peer with Lived Experience: an individual who self-identifies as having lived experience with mental illness, substance use disorder, or both, either personally or as a parent or family member
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel locally for outreach
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in workforce development, employment placement, outreach, career counseling, peer support services, or job readiness support (such as resumes, interview preparation, or workplace readiness)
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with databases or project management tools a plus
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow written procedures, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to work full time with occasional evenings or weekends as needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
