Position Overview:
Parents Anonymous® Inc. is seeking a dynamic, bilingual (English/Spanish), and culturally responsive Peer Workforce Trainer to deliver our CalMHSA-approved Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist (MCPSS) Certification Training. You’ll guide and support diverse Peer participants through synchronous, asynchronous, hybrid, or in-person learning formats while upholding trauma-informed practices and model fidelity. This role includes individualized support, participant retention strategies, and professional development opportunities while promoting engagement with ongoing Peer leadership initiatives.

A Peer is an individual who is self-identified as having lived experience with the process of recovery from mental illness, substance use disorder, or both, either as a consumer of these services or as the parent or family member of the consumer.
Key Responsibilities:
Training and Support:
- Facilitate the 80-hour MCPSS Certification Training with high quality instruction for 10+ participants monthly.
- Deliver content using interactive methods such as role-play, peer coaching, journaling, and group discussion (Zoom and In-Person).
- Monitor participant progress via Smartsheet, Canvas, and other platforms: ensure minimum 76-hour participation for certification eligibility.
- Provide office hours, tech support, check-ins, and early intervention to maximize participant retention and engagement.
- Assist with CalMHSA certification exam prep, registration, and completion tracking.
- Issue digital certificates and track numbers for successful graduates.
- Gather final evaluations for program improvement.
Outreach and Onboarding:
- Support recruitment through community outreach, documentation review, and tech setup.
- Guide participants in aligning Career Plans with workforce goals and certification.
- Promote Continuing Education Unit (CEU) opportunities, Peer Parent Network participation, and post-certification development.
- Assist in CEU-eligible course development and delivery per CalMHSA standards.
General Duties and Program Alignment:
- Complete Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification Training and pass the CalMHSA Exam within 90 days of hire.
- Participate in required trainings and organizational events.
- Uphold professional standards including confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and person-centered practices.
- Maintain schedules, communications, equipment security, and accurate records using Outlook, ADP, and Smartsheet.
Qualifications:
- MUST VERIFY THAT YOU ARE A PEER (WITH LIVED EXPERIENCE): A Peer is an individual who is self-identified as having lived experience with the process of recovery from mental illness, substance use disorder, or both, either as a consumer of these services or as the parent or family member of the consumer.
- Must have two years of professional training or teaching experience.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have at least a high school diploma. Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field is a plus.
- Prior experience in employment development, workforce placement, career counseling, outreach, or peer support services is strongly preferred.
- Strong Communication & Outreach Skills: Ability to engage, recruit, and collaborate with employers, community organizations, and peers in various settings.
- Experience assisting individuals with resume building, interview preparation, and job readiness is a plus.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed to attend job fairs, outreach events, and meet program deliverables.
- Must be technically proficient, particularly in maintaining accurate documentation of outreach, placements, and follow-ups using tools such as Smartsheets, Excel, or other tracking systems.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong problem-solving and relationship-building skills.

Pay: $30.00 – $32.00 per hour
