The California Department of Social Services, Office of Child Abuse Prevention, a State Advisory Committee, and Parents Anonymous® Inc. are collaborating on a joint project to develop and maintain a California Parent Engagement Center.

What is It?

  • The California Parent Engagement Center is a resource for parent engagement and parent involvement in California communities.
  • The Center is a statewide database of parent engagement programs and strategies that will assist the state in moving toward the use of evidence-based/evidence informed projects that include the meaningful involvement of parents. 
  • The database will bring together information on how parents are involved in direct services, trainings, public awareness, public education, policy and systems change.
What is the State Advisory Committee?
  • The State Advisory Committee provides overall guidance on the work of the California Parent Engagement Center.
  • Committee members include state, county and regional representatives from Child Welfare, Mental Health, Health, Child Abuse Prevention, the Tribal Community, Family Resource Centers, Parent Leaders, Community-based Organizations, Foundations, and other key stakeholders.
What is the Center Doing Right Now?
  • Collecting information through an online survey from July 1 –September 30, 2008.
  • The findings from the completed surveys will provide new insight on how California can improve the development, implementation and evaluation of parent engagement.
  • You can contribute by completing the online survey posted on the Parents Anonymous® Inc. web site at www.parentsanonymous.org and clicking on “parent engagement survey”.
